Privacy Policy for Vigil

This Privacy Policy explains how the Vigil application (“Vigil”, “the App”, “we”, “us”, or “our”) handles information.

1. Data Controller

2. Information We Collect

Vigil does not collect personal information.

The App does not require an account and does not collect or request:

• names or email addresses;
• phone numbers or contacts;
• location data;
• photos, videos, or files;
• microphone or camera data;
• device identifiers;
• advertising identifiers;
• browsing history;
• usage analytics;
• payment information.

Vigil does not operate its own server and does not transmit App data to us or to third-party services.

3. Information Stored Locally

Vigil stores one local application setting on your device: whether the screen-awake function is enabled or disabled.

This setting is used only to restore and control the App’s local functionality. It is not used to identify you and is not transmitted by Vigil.

The setting is removed when the App’s data is cleared or when the App is uninstalled, subject to the Android operating system’s behavior.

4. Permissions

Vigil requests only the permissions necessary to perform its core function:

• Wake lock – to help keep the device screen awake while the feature is enabled;
• Foreground service – to keep the screen-awake service running in the background;
• Notifications – to display the required ongoing notification indicating that the service is active and allowing you to stop it.

Vigil does not use these permissions to collect personal information.

5. Third-Party Services

Vigil does not include analytics, crash-reporting, or social-login.

The App may open external Android settings pages, such as notification or battery-optimization settings. When you open links outside the App, including the privacy-policy or terms-of-service page, the external website or service is governed by its own privacy policy.

Vigil is distributed through Google Play. Google may independently collect and process information in connection with the Google Play service. Such processing is governed by Google’s own privacy policy and is outside the control of Vigil.

6. Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, trade, or share personal information because Vigil does not collect personal information.

7. Data Retention and Deletion

Vigil does not maintain personal information on our systems.

The App’s local setting remains on your device while the App is installed and may be deleted by clearing the App’s data or uninstalling the App.

8. Children’s Privacy

Vigil does not knowingly collect personal information from children or from any other users.

9. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be published at the URL where this Privacy Policy is made available. The updated policy will include a revised effective date.
